Under-eye filler can be used to treat the hollowing under the eyes, making you look brighter and more refreshed. Not every patient is suitable for this treatment, and our Doctors can provide alternative recommendations if they advise you are not an appropriate candidate. It is also important to note that tear trough filler does not alter the quality of the skin itself, so often we advise combining with other treatments/ skincare if you have darkness under the skin/ fine lines or crepiness.

Tear trough filler is exceptionally long-lasting compared to other facial areas. Because the under-eye area experiences very little muscle movement or structural friction, the dermal filler degrades very slowly. On average, patients enjoy their results for 12 to 18 months, and in many cases, even longer.

Mild swelling or bruising may occur after having tear trough fillers, but most patients resume normal activities immediately.

Tear trough filler is highly effective at treating dark circles, but only if those circles are caused by structural shadowing due to volume loss. As the periorbital hollow deepens, light cannot reflect off the skin evenly, creating a dark shadow. Placing soft dermal filler lifts this hollow, eliminating the shadow and instantly brightening the eyes. However, if your dark circles are caused by superficial skin pigmentation or visible vascular networks beneath very thin skin, filler will not remove the colour. Tear trough filler looks puffy or unnatural only if an incorrect, heavy product is used, or if it is injected too superficially. The under-eye area naturally attracts water, so we exclusively utilise premium, low-hydrophilic hyaluronic acid fillers (such as Teosyal Redensity 2). This specialised, ultra-lightweight gel is engineered specifically for the delicate eye area, meaning it integrates smoothly into the tissue without absorbing excess water or causing chronic morning puffiness.

Not everyone is suitable for under-eye filler. If you have prominent "bags" under your eyes caused by herniated orbital fat pads, or if you suffer from severe fluid retention (malar edema), placing dermal filler will worsen the puffiness. For these concerns, alternative treatments or surgical options are more appropriate.
