Crow’s Feet in Nottingham
YOUR BEAUTY DOCTOR - NOTTINGHAM
The little lines beside your eyes often appear when you smile. You may like the expression they give your face, but want advice when they become deeper or stay visible at rest.
At Your Beauty Doctor in Mapperley, Nottingham, we take a careful look at the eye area and your skin. Our approach is about understanding what bothers you and keeping any proposed change in proportion.
You do not need to change the way you look to ask for advice!
What are crow’s feet?
Crow’s feet are fine lines that spread out from the outer corners of the eyes. They are sometimes called laughter lines. They can appear during smiling or squinting, and become more visible without movement over time.
They are not the same as under-eye hollows, dark circles or eyelid bags. Those concerns can occur together, but each has different causes and may need different advice.
What causes crow’s feet?
CAUSES
Smiling and squinting
The muscles around the eyes move whenever you smile or narrow your eyes. Repeated folding produces a fan-shaped pattern at the outer corners.
Delicate skin
The skin around the eyes is thin. Changes in elasticity and hydration can make fine creases more obvious, particularly as the skin ages.
Sun exposure and irritation
Sun exposure affects skin quality and can encourage squinting. Rubbing irritated eyes may also aggravate the delicate skin. Ongoing dryness, itching or visual discomfort deserves appropriate advice rather than simply an aesthetic procedure.
Can Home care Help?
WHAT MAY HELP
Gentle moisturising and suitable sun protection can support the eye area. Sunglasses may reduce squinting outdoors. Avoid rubbing and introduce eye-area products cautiously, especially if you have eczema or sensitive skin.
ITS LIMITATIONS
Eye cream may soften the appearance of dryness, but it will not reliably remove movement-related lines. Do not use strong acids or retinoids close to the eyes without advice about the product and your skin.
Crow’s Feet Treatment Options in Nottingham
TREATMENT OPTIONS
Consultation for expression lines
A medical assessment can discuss options for lines linked to smiling and squinting. The doctor considers eyelid function, your smile, eye symptoms and medical history before recommending an approach.
Sunekos
Sunekos may be considered for appropriate skin-quality concerns after assessment. A gentle skincare plan can support hydration alongside, or instead of, a clinic procedure. Neither is a substitute for assessing eye symptoms.
Polynucleotides
The clinic offers polynucleotides for selected skin-quality concerns, including the eye area. They may be discussed where fine texture is part of the concern. They do not remove excess eyelid skin or guarantee the disappearance of crow’s feet.
Choosing the right approach for you
We ask whether you are concerned about lines when smiling, fine crepiness at rest or a combination. We also check for eye dryness and distinguish outer-eye lines from bags, hollowing and pigmentation.
An option directed at facial movement and one directed at skin quality have different roles. Treatment should not aim to remove every sign of a smile. If loose eyelid skin or another eye condition is the main issue, the appropriate next step may be a different assessment.
DOCTOR’S ADVICE
Dr. Jess Advice on Crow’s Feet
“The eye area should be assessed as part of your whole expression. Lines at the outer corners can look very different when you smile compared with when your face is relaxed. Those are both useful things to understand before making a plan. Dry, crepey skin needs different advice from lines driven mainly by movement, and eye discomfort should not be overlooked. It is worth being clear about what you want to keep as well as what you want to soften. A natural smile usually includes some movement around the eyes. The aim should be a considered improvement, with realistic expectations, rather than making the area completely smooth in every expression.“

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your patient journey at Your Beauty Doctor
STEP 1
Looking at the eye area
We discuss your concern and check the lines during smiling and at rest. We ask about sensitive skin, eye symptoms, previous treatment and your medical history.
STEP 2
Discuss your Options
Your plan explains whether the main focus is expression, skin quality or a different concern. Risks, limitations and costs are discussed before you decide.
Treatment and Aftercare
STEP 3
If you proceed, we explain preparation, what the area may look or feel like afterwards and the aftercare specific to your chosen option.
STEP 4
Review the change
We assess progress at an appropriate interval and discuss whether skincare, further treatment or simply monitoring the area makes sense.
What results can you expect?
Depending on the chosen approach, treatment may soften outer-eye lines or improve the appearance of fine, crepey texture. Lines during smiling may remain, and this can be compatible with a natural-looking result.
Skin-quality treatments generally need time to show their effect and may involve a course. Injectable procedures can cause temporary swelling or bruising, and there are other treatment-specific risks to discuss. No approach guarantees completely smooth skin or treats every eye-area concern.

Frequently Asked Questions about Crow’s Feet
Left: Before / Right: After
-
Not necessarily. Smiling, squinting, inherited anatomy and skin characteristics affect when they become visible. They can occur in younger adults too.
-
No. Crow’s feet radiate from the outer eye corners. Fine lines directly beneath the eyes can have a different pattern and may need a different approach.
-
The aim should be to respect your expression. Your doctor assesses movement and explains the possible effects of any proposed option before you decide.
-
It may help dryness and fine surface texture. It does not reliably remove established creases or address the muscle movement associated with smiling.
-
Tell the doctor before considering treatment. Eye symptoms can influence suitability and may need an optometrist or other medical assessment.
-
No. They are a skin-quality option for selected patients, not a solution for all outer-eye lines, bags, loose skin or hollows.
-
That depends on the option selected. Some procedures cause temporary redness, swelling or bruising, so discuss work and social plans before booking.
-
Yes. Mention all the changes you have noticed. Dark circles and crow’s feet are different concerns, and assessing them together helps avoid the wrong treatment.
